Get To Know- Nabes

This will be the first of many articles featuring in a new series of mine ‘Get To Know’ where I intend to spotlight upcoming artists who are long overdue a slot in your playlist, and who better to kick this off with, than Stephen Barnes, or better known to fans as ‘Nabes’.

Hailing from America yet residing in London, Nabes is a man of many talents sitting under multiple creative brackets such as artist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist which is powerfully portrayed in his feel-good, self-made discography, it’s almost impossible not to find your spirits lifting when Stephen puts pen to paper.

Creating an upbeat pop sound, mixing in his own unique twist touching upon elements of jazz and R&B, Nabes has truly found his forte in his own music and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans and the industry. June 2021 saw Barnes’ most successful patch to date when he released ‘Goodmood’, a song with an extremely fitting title and highly driven feel good, chilled energies throughout, “she leaves me in a good mood, no matter what I’m going through.” As of today, the track currently sits comfortably at the top of Nabes’ Spotify discography with almost five million streams, and also earned him a place on the highly respected curated ‘Our Generation: Class Of 2021’ editorial. Nabes often experiments with ‘Chill Hop’ an often clean flow of lyrics, with self-produced relaxed beats highly complimenting the warm tone vocals that to fans have become a trademark touch.

As mentioned previously, this isn’t the only success Stephen has found in the industry, currently working on multiple tracks as sole producer and co-writer, Nabes has assisted multiple artists with songs that have led to high succession, a key example being a fellow musician and close friend ‘Maya Delilah’, her track ‘Moonflower’ co-written by Stephen has racked up over two million streams and continues to grow.

Alongside what seems a forever ongoing creative schedule, Nabes is continuously streaming on multiple platforms to let fans into his world displaying production techniques and interacting with those who support him on a daily basis, it really has never seemed to go unnoticed to Nabes how enjoyable his content is and he so clearly never takes that for granted, with all of this being said it’ll be a short time before Stephen becomes a household name and continues to rise in the industry, there’s no time like the present to indulge yourself in his forever expanding sound and good vibes all round.
